| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 |
| learn of the death of
Elaine Callahan of Peoria, who passed |
| 4 |
| away on October 24, 2008; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Elaine Callahan was born on September 28, 1924 in |
| 6 |
| Springfield; she was a daughter of William and Elsie Haywood |
| 7 |
| Thompson; she married Francis "Fran" Callahan on October 31, |
| 8 |
| 1948 in Milford; he preceded her in death on July 20, 1998; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, Elaine Callahan was a lifetime member of the Our |
| 10 |
| Savior Lutheran Church in Milford and a proud member of the |
| 11 |
| Milford Junior Women's Club, where, as president, she was |
| 12 |
| instrumental in procuring the lighted scoreboard at the Milford |
| 13 |
| High School football field; she was also a co-founder of the |
| 14 |
| Fighting Illini Pork Club at the University of Illinois; and
|
| 15 |
| WHEREAS, Elaine Callahan enjoyed volunteering her time |
| 16 |
| reading at Milford Elementary School; and
|
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, Elaine Callahan was preceded in death by her |
| 18 |
| husband and her parents; and
|
| 19 |
| WHEREAS, Elaine Callahan is survived by her daughter, |
| 20 |
| Colleen (Richard) Burns; her granddaughter, Brittney Burns; |
