| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 |
| learn of the death of
Pauline Heward of Peoria, who passed away |
| 4 |
| on July 18, 2008; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Pauline Heward was born on October 8, 1930 in |
| 6 |
| Peoria; her parents were Elmer Paul and Hazel Violet Flinner |
| 7 |
| Bayer; she married her husband, Duane, on May 20, 1978; and
|
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, Pauline Heward graduated from Wyoming High School |
| 9 |
| in 1948 and attended Brown's Business College; she was employed |
| 10 |
| with Caterpillar as a corporate accountant for 35 years until |
| 11 |
| her retirement on January 1, 1991; and
|
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, Pauline Heward was a member of Glen Oak Christian |
| 13 |
| Church, where she served on the board as Financial Secretary |
| 14 |
| for many years; and
|
| 15 |
| WHEREAS, Pauline Heward was very active as a community |
| 16 |
| volunteer, working with RSVP, the Red Cross, and was a founding |
| 17 |
| member of Habitat for Humanity in the Peoria area; she was very |
| 18 |
| touched when she and her husband were the original recipients |
| 19 |
| of the Volunteer of the Year Award given by Counseling & Family |
| 20 |
| Services, which has continued to be given annually as The Duane & |
| 21 |
| Polly Heward Volunteer of the Year Award; therefore, be it
