| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 |
| learn of the death of Antoinetta Frega of Riverside, who |
| 4 |
| recently passed away; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Antoinetta Frega was born in Saracena, Italy, a |
| 6 |
| small mountain village in southern Italy; she was educated |
| 7 |
| through high school, even though it was not common for women to |
| 8 |
| receive an education during that time period; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, She saw her first airplane fly over her village in |
| 10 |
| 1916 and told others about it; she was born before the |
| 11 |
| beginnings of communism and fascism and outlived both; and
|
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, Antoinetta Frega came to the United States in |
| 13 |
| 1934, crossing the Atlantic Ocean on the Italian oceanliner |
| 14 |
| Rex; she made her arrival in Chicago by train; and she learned |
| 15 |
| English and became an American citizen in 1943; and
|
| 16 |
| WHEREAS, She was a member of several clubs at St. Mary;s |
| 17 |
| Church in Riverside; and she was a homemaker; and
|
| 18 |
| WHEREAS, Antoinetta Frega was preceded in death by her |
| 19 |
| husband, Gennaro; she is survived by her son, John (Eileen); |
| 20 |
| her daughter, Carmelina (the late Guy); her four grandchildren; |
