SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Tommy K. Martin of Tuscola, who passed away on July 17, 2007; and

WHEREAS, Tommy K. Martin was born on December 12, 1947 in Tuscola; he was the son of Clestes O. and Mary Edna Loyd Martin; and

WHEREAS, Tommy K. Martin graduated from Tuscola Community High School in 1966; he proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War; he started with the Illinois State Police in 1978, working as a Crime Scene Investigator and CSI Field Supervisor; his duties included Training Coordinator and Quality Assurance Manager for the entire crime scene services command until his retirement in 2002; he was an Instructor at the Criminal Justice Institute in Little Rock, Arkansas; he began serving as Chief Deputy Sheriff of Douglas County in 2004; and

WHEREAS, Tommy K. Martin was a member of the Tuscola Warrior VFW Post #1009, Tuscola American Legion Post #27, Watkins Glen, NY American Legion Post #555, Watkins Glen, NY Elks Lodge # 1546, Tuscola Moose Lodge # 729, and the Tuscola Masonic Lodge #331, AF & AM; he was also a member and deacon of the Tuscola United Church of Christ; and

WHEREAS, Tommy K. Martin was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Gary Martin; and

WHEREAS, Tommy K. Martin was survived by his son, Daniel Loyd Martin; his daughter, Laura Pitts, and her husband, Doug; his brother, Robert Martin; and his grandchildren, Lexie, Kathy, and Corey; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Tommy K. Martin; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Tommy K. Martin as an expression of our sympathy.
