| SENATE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 |
| learn of the death of Clifford E. Dienberg of Oak Park, who |
| 4 |
| passed away on June 28, 2007; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Dienberg was born on the South Side of Chicago |
| 6 |
| and moved with his family to his grandfather's farm in |
| 7 |
| Wisconsin just before he started high school; after his |
| 8 |
| graduation from Washington High School in Oconto, Wisconsin, |
| 9 |
| Mr. Dienberg returned to Chicago; in 1969, he opened his own |
| 10 |
| small business, C.E. Dienberg Printing Co., which is now on |
| 11 |
| Madison Street in Oak Park and run by one of Mr. Dienberg's |
| 12 |
| sons; and
|
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Dienberg became an ordained deacon in 1979; he |
| 14 |
| served as a chaplain at West Suburban Hospital in Oak Park for |
| 15 |
| 18 years and did substitute duties as a chaplain at Loyola |
| 16 |
| Medical Center in Maywood; he served at Ascension Catholic |
| 17 |
| Church in Oak Park, St. Vincent Ferrer in River Forest, St. |
| 18 |
| Odilo in Berwyn, St. Luke in River Forest, and St. Mary of |
| 19 |
| Celle in Berwyn; he offered bereavement and grief counseling, |
| 20 |
| and brought retreats and scripture studies to the |
| 21 |
| congregations; he also was on the Diaconate Community Council |
| 22 |
| for two terms in the 1980s; and
|

| WHEREAS, Clifford E. Dienberg served as a deacon for the |
| 2 |
| Catholic Archdiocese of Chicago, where his focus was helping |
| 3 |
| those in need; Mr. Dienberg served at several area churches as |
| 4 |
| a deacon and as a chaplain at two hospitals; as rural life |
| 5 |
| director for the archdiocese, Mr. Dienberg reached out to and |
| 6 |
| helped draw in farmers in rural McHenry County and represented |
| 7 |
| the archdiocese on farming issues before government officials |
| 8 |
| in Springfield; and |
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Dienberg served as a board member of Heifer |
| 10 |
| International, a global non-profit group that works toward |
| 11 |
| ending hunger and poverty through gifts of livestock, training, |
| 12 |
| and technical support to families in need; and
|
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, Clifford E. Dienberg was the beloved husband of |
| 14 |
| Lauretta; the loving father of Denise (Patrick) Helmers, Gayle |
| 15 |
| (Bill) Love, Sue (Andre) Winkler, and Laurie (Jay) Hoppe, |
| 16 |
| Steve, Clifford (Regina), Craig, David (Jennifer), and the late |
| 17 |
| Mark Dienberg; the beloved brother of his twin sister, Kay |
| 18 |
| Dienberg; the devoted grandfather of Michael, Tim, Kate, John, |
| 19 |
| Jenny, Chris, Cliff Jr., Taylor, Joey, Aiden, and Lexie; and |
| 20 |
| the faithful companion to Jack the Dog; therefore, be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL |

| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with |
| 23 |
| his family and friends, the passing of Clifford E. Dienberg; |
