AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 62

    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 62, AS AMENDED, by

replacing everything after the enacting clause with the 
4
following:

    "Section 5. The Unified Code of Corrections is amended  by 
6
adding Section 3-4-3.1 as follows:
 
7
    (730 ILCS 5/3-4-3.1  new)
8
    Sec. 3-4-3.1. Identification documents, keys, and 
9
prescription drugs of committed persons.
10
    (a) Driver's licenses, State issued identification cards, 
11
social security account cards, other government issued 
12
identification documents, keys, and prescription drugs of a 
13
committed person that are in possession of a county sheriff at 
14
the time a person is committed to the Illinois Department of 
15
Corrections shall be forwarded to the Department.
16
    (b) The Department shall retain the government issued

identification documents, keys, and prescription drugs of a 
2
committed person at the institution in which the  person is 
3
incarcerated and shall ensure that the documents, keys, and 
4
prescription drugs are forwarded to any institution to which 
5
the  person is transferred.

    (c) The government issued identification documents, keys, 
7
and prescription drugs of a committed person shall be made 
8
available to the person upon discharge from the Department.".
