HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, Carol Spielman has served as a member of the Lake 
3
County Board, representing District 22, from December of 1992 
4
until December of 2008; and

 
5
    WHEREAS, Carol Spielman has brought her experience and her 
6
knowledge of and interest in local government to bear on a 
7
variety of committees and activities while serving on the 
8
County Board; and

 
9
    WHEREAS, In recognition of these abilities, Carol Spielman 
10
was selected to serve in a variety of leadership positions, 
11
including Chair of the Revenue Committee, and the Records and 
12
Legislation Committee (formerly Legislative and 
13
Intergovernmental Affairs Committee) from 2002 to the present; 
14
and

 
15
    WHEREAS, During her service on the Lake County Board, she 
16
has served as Vice-Chair of the Health and Human Services 
17
Committee, Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs 
18
Committee, Planning, Building, and Zoning Committee, and Rules 
19
Committee; and as a member of the Management Services, Taxation 
20
and Election Committee, Law and Judicial Committee, Community 
21
and Economic Development Committee, and Chairman's 
22
Advisory/Legislative Committee; and

    WHEREAS, Carol is also a founding member of the Lake County 
2
Democratic Women, a grassroots committee devoted to 
3
recruiting, educating, leading, mentoring, and supporting 
4
women who aspire to seek an elected or appointed office, 
5
founded in 2004 by a leadership team of women who are elected 
6
officials, past officials, and candidates; and

 
7
    WHEREAS, Carol also served as a member of the Lake County 
8
Board of Health from 2002 to the present, and as a member of 
9
the Lake County Stormwater Management Commission from 1992 to 
10
the present; therefore, be it

 
11
    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
12
NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
13
recognize and commend Carol Spielman for her public service as 
14
a member of the Lake County Board and her commitment to her 
15
community and wish her the best in her future endeavors; and be 
16
it further

    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
18
presented to Carol Spielman as a symbol of our sincere respect.
