| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 |
| Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Donald B. |
| 4 |
| Morrison of Belvidere, who passed away on May 24, 2008; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Donald Morrison was born June 13, 1951, in |
| 6 |
| Rockford, the son of Donald M. and Mary (Uchal) Morrison; |
| 7 |
| Donald married Janet R. Wilson on July 10, 1971, in Byron; and
|
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, He was sworn in as an officer with the Belvidere |
| 9 |
| Police Department on February 14, 1984; he served as the first |
| 10 |
| K-9 Officer with Donco, 1989 to 1994 and Tecco, 1994 to 1995; |
| 11 |
| Officer Morrison then became the first school resource officer, |
| 12 |
| a position he held from 1996 to 2004; he then returned to the |
| 13 |
| patrol division where he was currently serving; and
|
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, Don was a member of the BOA (Belvidere Officers |
| 15 |
| Association) and the NASRO (National Association of School |
| 16 |
| Resource Officers); he was a motorcycle enthusiast and a member |
| 17 |
| of the Rock River Valley Hog Club; he was a talented |
| 18 |
| photographer and woodworker; he enjoyed traveling with his wife |
| 19 |
| and spending time participating in "period reenactment" at |
| 20 |
| various places like Midway Village; and Don was a member of |
| 21 |
| Calvary Memorial Church and was the bassist in the church band; |
