| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The State of Illinois draws its strength from | ||||||
| 3 | those organizations that are dedicated to the economic vitality | ||||||
| 4 | and quality of life of the residents of this State; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, The establishment of institutions that enhance | ||||||
| 6 | economic growth and development are invaluable; the Elgin Area | ||||||
| 7 | Chamber of Commerce is an example of such an institution that | ||||||
| 8 | is key to the well-being of local businesses, which have a | ||||||
| 9 | direct and positive impact upon the communities they serve; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Celebrating its 100 years of service to the | ||||||
| 11 | Greater Elgin area this year, the Elgin Area Chamber of | ||||||
| 12 | Commerce has been successful thanks to the efforts of many | ||||||
| 13 | hard-working and resourceful individuals, who are dedicated to | ||||||
| 14 | advancing the economic interests of their communities; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Born as The Commercial Club with 47 members on | ||||||
| 16 | July 31, 1908, and welcoming all desiring membership who would | ||||||
| 17 | "boost Elgin" and assist in attracting industry, the Elgin Area | ||||||
| 18 | Chamber of Commerce was founded by individuals who had a desire | ||||||
| 19 | to enhance life in the community; the club did so by developing | ||||||
| 20 | ways to assist local businesses, encouraging commercial and | ||||||
| 21 | economic growth, and improving the quality of life throughout | ||||||
| 22 | Elgin; and

| 1 | WHEREAS, Today, the Elgin Area Chamber of Commerce | ||||||
| 2 | continues to work toward their original objectives, and, in the | ||||||
| 3 | years since its founding, has undertaken many other endeavors | ||||||
| 4 | to improve the business environment and overall quality of life | ||||||
| 5 | for citizens throughout the Greater Elgin area; and | ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, The Elgin Area Chamber of Commerce is dedicated to | ||||||
| 7 | serving their members through advocacy, representation, | ||||||
| 8 | communication, and education, by promoting and representing | ||||||
| 9 | the interests of its businesses and professional members; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Having been successful in furthering the growth of | ||||||
| 11 | commerce and trade, the Elgin Area Chamber of Commerce is to be | ||||||
| 12 | commended for its great determination in serving both large and | ||||||
| 13 | small businesses and in helping enhance economic vitality, | ||||||
| 14 | advocating for businesses, and creating opportunities for its | ||||||
| 15 | members; and | ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Businesses in Elgin continue to welcome | ||||||
| 17 | initiatives led by the Elgin Area Chamber of Commerce that | ||||||
| 18 | promote the exchange of ideas and information, foster | ||||||
| 19 | communication, strengthen positive relationships among local | ||||||
| 20 | and statewide business communities, and examine ways to promote | ||||||
| 21 | commerce in the 21st century; and

| 1 | WHEREAS, The members of this body are justly proud to | ||||||
| 2 | commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Elgin Area Chamber of | ||||||
| 3 | Commerce in 2008; therefore, be it | ||||||
| 4 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 5 | NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 6 | congratulate the members of the Elgin Area Chamber of Commerce | ||||||
| 7 | on the occasion of the chamber's 100th anniversary and wish | ||||||
| 8 | them continued success in the future; and be it further
| ||||||
| 9 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 10 | presented to the Elgin Area Chamber of Commerce as a symbol of | ||||||
| 11 | our esteem and respect.
