HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, Carol L. Widmer has served in the Village of Mount 
3
Prospect's Finance Department from February 24, 1986 until 
4
January 31, 2008; and

 
5
    WHEREAS, Carol Widmer was employed with the Village of 
6
Kenilworth from January 1984 until February 1986, devoting 24 
7
total years to public service; and

 
8
    WHEREAS, Carol Widmer began her career as an accountant in 
9
the Village's Finance Department in February of 1986; and

 
10
    WHEREAS, Carol Widmer was promoted to Accounting 
11
Supervisor in April of 1986; and

 
12
    WHEREAS, Due to her efforts and knowledge, Carol Widmer was 
13
quickly promoted to her current position as Deputy Finance 
14
Director; and

 
15
    WHEREAS, Carol Widmer's position as Village Deputy Finance 
16
Director requires intelligence, dedication, and the ability to 
17
work well with others; and

 
18
    WHEREAS, The responsibilities of Deputy Director are 
19
abundant and varied; such responsibilities include the

oversight of all day-to-day operations of the Finance 
2
Department, the oversight of the Annual Financial Audit, 
3
assistance in the preparation of the annual budget, and serving 
4
as one of the staff liaisons to the Finance Commission; and
 
5
    WHEREAS, Carol Widmer's B.A. in Accounting from 
6
Northeastern Illinois University in 1980 and her C.P.A., earned 
7
in the State of Illinois in December of 1981, superbly prepared 
8
her for her work as Deputy Finance Director; and

 
9
    WHEREAS, During her time with the Village, Carol Widmer has 
10
served four Finance Directors with distinction; and

 
11
    WHEREAS, Carol Widmer's experience and understanding of 
12
Village operations were exceptionally helpful and enabled a 
13
smooth transition; and
 
14
    WHEREAS, Carol Widmer has been a member of the Illinois 
15
Government Finance Officers Association (IGFOA) since 1986; in 
16
addition, she is a current member of the National Government 
17
Finance Officers Association (GFOA); and

 
18
    WHEREAS, Carol Widmer has worked tirelessly and with 
19
distinction as the Deputy Financial Director for the Village of 
20
Mount Prospect; she exemplifies the character of a devoted and 
21
respected public servant; therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
2
NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
3
congratulate Mount Prospect Village Deputy Financial Director 
4
Carol L. Widmer on the occasion of her retirement and thank her 
5
for her dedication to the citizens of Mount Prospect; and be it 
6
further

    RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be presented to 
8
Carol L. Widmer as a token of our respect and esteem, with best 
9
wishes for an enjoyable and fulfilling retirement.
