HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, It has come to the attention of the members of the 
3
Illinois House of Representatives that Michael Madden, 
4
Director of the Schaumburg Township District Library, is 
5
celebrating his 40th anniversary in that position; and

 
6
    WHEREAS, Michael Madden began his career with the library 
7
in 1967; he received Bachelor of Arts in English from Marquette 
8
University in 1960, a Certificate in Publishing from Radcliffe 
9
College/Harvard University in 1960, a Master of Arts in English 
10
from Loyola University in 1963, and a Master of Arts in Library 
11
Science from the University of Chicago in 1967; and

 
12
    WHEREAS, In addition to his position as Library Director, 
13
Mr. Madden is also a teacher, author, and active member of the 
14
Schaumburg Business Association; and

 
15
    WHEREAS, He is a past recipient of the Librarian of the 
16
Year award from the Illinois Library Association; and

 
17
    WHEREAS, In 2006 Michael Madden received the Lifetime 
18
Achievement Award from the North Suburban Library System 
19
(NSLS); the award is "designed to honor outstanding individuals 
20
who have made substantial contributions to the library 
21
profession and the NSLS community over the entire course of

their professional life"; and

    WHEREAS, Michael Madden is also a member of the American 
3
Library Association, the Illinois Library Association, and the 
4
Rotary Club of Schaumburg/Hoffman Estates; therefore, be it

 
5
    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
6
NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
7
congratulate Michael Madden on this anniversary and wish him 
8
the best in his future endeavors; and be it further

 
9
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
10
presented to Michael Madden as a symbol of our respect and 
11
esteem.
