| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Dennis L. Myers on | ||||||
| 4 | the occasion of his retirement as Vice President and General | ||||||
| 5 | Counsel for the Midwest Area at Verizon Wireless; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Dennis Myers is a native of Ogden, Illinois; he | ||||||
| 7 | earned his bachelor's degree from Knox College in Galesburg, | ||||||
| 8 | Illinois in 1969 and his J.D. from the University of Illinois | ||||||
| 9 | School of Law in 1972; he was admitted to the Illinois Bar in | ||||||
| 10 | 1972 and the Indiana Bar in 1986; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, From 1972 until 1985, Dennis Myers was a partner | ||||||
| 12 | at Meyer, Capel, Hirschfeld, Muncy, Jahn & Alden in Champaign, | ||||||
| 13 | Illinois, where he specialized in telecommunications, | ||||||
| 14 | commercial, real estate, and health care law; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Dennis Myers has been a significant contributor to | ||||||
| 16 | the success of the wireless industry in this State and | ||||||
| 17 | throughout the Midwest over the last 20 years; in 1985, he | ||||||
| 18 | accepted a position as an attorney at the Indiana Bell | ||||||
| 19 | Telephone Company, working there until 1988; from 1988 to 1999, | ||||||
| 20 | he served as Vice President and General Counsel for Ameritech | ||||||
| 21 | Mobile Communications, Inc.; he served as Associate General | ||||||
| 22 | Counsel for GTE Wireless from 1999 until 2000; from 2000 to | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | 2001, he served as Associate General Counsel of Northern | ||||||
| 2 | Operations for Verizon Wireless, where he was responsible for | ||||||
| 3 | the company's field legal staff in the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, | ||||||
| 4 | Northwest, and Great Lakes regions; in 2001, he became Vice | ||||||
| 5 | President and General Counsel of Verizon Wireless' Midwest | ||||||
| 6 | Area, where he was responsible for managing the company's legal | ||||||
| 7 | issues over 15 states; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Dennis Myers and his wife Kathryn, whom he married | ||||||
| 9 | on March 22, 1969, have three children, James, who is currently | ||||||
| 10 | a Strategic Planning Analyst for FedEx, Leah, who is an | ||||||
| 11 | Assistant Attorney General of Criminal Appeals for the Illinois | ||||||
| 12 | Attorney General's Office, and Timothy, who is currently | ||||||
| 13 | pursuing his bachelor's degree from Marquette University; and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, Dennis Myers' quiet demeanor, solid legal advice, | ||||||
| 15 | and avuncular style have earned him the respect of his | ||||||
| 16 | co-workers, family, and friends; he will be sorely missed by | ||||||
| 17 | his colleagues at Verizon Wireless; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 18 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 19 | NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 20 | congratulate Dennis L. Myers on the occasion of his retirement | ||||||
| 21 | and wish him continued success and happiness in the future; and | ||||||
| 22 | be it further
