| SENATE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to express |
| 3 |
| their sincere condolences to the family and friends of Harry C. |
| 4 |
| Dortch, of Granite City, who passed away on March 20, 2006; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Harry Dortch was born in Stewart County, |
| 6 |
| Tennessee, and moved to Granite City as a child; he graduated |
| 7 |
| from Granite City High School and received a degree from the |
| 8 |
| St. Louis College of Pharmacy; and |
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Dortch was a naval veteran; after he was |
| 10 |
| discharged, he married his high school sweetheart, Kathleen M. |
| 11 |
| Nieber, in 1952; and |
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, He started his pharmacy career working at Reese |
| 13 |
| Drug Stores; he served in many positions, not only as a |
| 14 |
| pharmacist, but as an executive vice president and general |
| 15 |
| manager; and
|
| 16 |
| WHEREAS, After the stores closed in the mid-1980s, he |
| 17 |
| worked as a pharmacist at Huck's Drug Store, Providence |
| 18 |
| Pharmacy, and later at Gateway Regional Hospital; and
|
| 19 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Dortch was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic |
| 20 |
| Church; and
|
| 21 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Harry C. Dortch will be felt by all |
| 22 |
| who knew and loved him, especially his wife, Kathleen Dortch; |
| 23 |
| his sons, Brian Dortch and David Dortch; his daughter, Jackie |
| 24 |
| Jones; and his three grandchildren; therefore, be it
|
| 25 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL |

| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with |
| 27 |
| all who knew and loved him, the death of Harry C. Dortch; and |
| 28 |
