| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois |
| 3 |
| learned with regret of the death of Carroll A. Johnson of |
| 4 |
| Rushville on Thursday, December 15, 2005; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, He was born on February 11, 1925, in Huntsville |
| 6 |
| Township to Ira "Bert" and Ethel Phelps Johnson; he married |
| 7 |
| Betty McCutchan in 1961 in Plymouth; and
|
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, |
| 9 |
| serving from 1943 to 1946 as an electrical mate second class on |
| 10 |
| the USS Roi; he was awarded the victory medal; and
|
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson graduated from Plymouth High School in |
| 12 |
| 1942, attended Gem City College in Quincy, and received a |
| 13 |
| bachelor's degree in math and science from Western Illinois |
| 14 |
| University in 1951 and a master's degree in administration in |
| 15 |
| 1964; and
|
| 16 |
| WHEREAS, He was a farmer, raised hogs, and owned Johnson |
| 17 |
| Bros. Trucking in Plymouth for several years; he taught math |
| 18 |
| and physics at Rushville High School from 1951 to 1966, was |
| 19 |
| principal of Rushville High School, and was assistant |
| 20 |
| superintendent in 1967 and superintendent from 1967 until his |
| 21 |
| retirement in 1990; he then served as interim superintendent |
| 22 |
| with the Plymouth School District and a consultant with |
| 23 |
| Consulting and Research Group; and
|
| 24 |
| WHEREAS, He was a member of First United Methodist Church |
| 25 |
| in Rushville, where served as a trustee, usher, and on the |
| 26 |
| parsonage committee; the Plymouth American Legion Post 912; the |
| 27 |
| Western Administrative Round Table; Phi Kappa Delta |
| 28 |
| fraternity; the Educational League of Illinois; the Illinois |
| 29 |
| Association of School Administrators; the Illinois Principals |
| 30 |
| Association; the West Central Illinois Special Education |
