| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois |
| 3 |
| learned with sadness of the death of Louise Matlock of Thebes |
| 4 |
| on July 1, 2005; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Matlock was born September 17, 1921, in |
| 6 |
| McClure, to Clarence and Bertha J. Phillips Benefield; she |
| 7 |
| married John Henry Matlock on September 13, 1941, in Cape |
| 8 |
| Girardeau; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, She was employed at Florsheim Shoe Factory for 26 |
| 10 |
| years; she was a founder and trustee of Church of God in Gale; |
| 11 |
| she taught Sunday school and led the Sunday services; she and |
| 12 |
| her late husband gave time and monetary assistance to Church of |
| 13 |
| God in Hagerstown, Maryland; and
|
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her husband and two |
| 15 |
| brothers; and
|
| 16 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Louise Matlock is felt by all who |
| 17 |
| knew and loved her, especially her son, Johnnie Carroll and |
| 18 |
| wife Mary Elizabeth Matlock; her daughter, Diana Sue and |
| 19 |
| husband Charlie Protomaster; her brothers, Paul Benefield, |
| 20 |
| Earl Benefield, Lawrence Benefield, and Bill Benefield; her |
| 21 |
| sisters, Virginia Schearf, Clara May Tucker, and Alice Marie |
| 22 |
| Green; her grandsons, Troy Matlock and wife Stacey, Joey |
| 23 |
| Matlock and wife Leslie, and David and Dean Stoffel; and her 10 |
| 24 |
| great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; |
| 25 |
| therefore, be it

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL |
| 27 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we express our most |
| 28 |
| sincere regret at the passing of Louise Matlock and extend our |
| 29 |
| condolences to her family, friends, and community; and be it |
| 30 |
| further
