| SENATE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, The Governor's Travel Control Board has |
| 3 |
| negotiated a State rate for travel on Amtrak between Chicago |
| 4 |
| and Springfield by State officials and employees; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Implemented by Amtrak, this State rate has over |
| 6 |
| the years saved taxpayer money and benefited Amtrak by |
| 7 |
| encouraging the use of trains by those traveling on State |
| 8 |
| business; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, A similarly negotiated rate for travel between |
| 10 |
| Chicago and the State's various public universities would |
| 11 |
| increase train ridership and provide a much-needed |
| 12 |
| transportation option for Illinois public university students, |
| 13 |
| faculty, and administration as well as for State officials and |
| 14 |
| employees conducting State business at those universities; |
| 15 |
| therefore, be it

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL |
| 17 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we strongly urge the |
| 18 |
| Governor's Travel Control Board to negotiate with Amtrak for |
| 19 |
| the implementation of a special travel rate between Chicago and |
| 20 |
| the cities of Bloomington-Normal, Carbondale, |
| 21 |
| Champaign-Urbana, and Macomb; and be it further
|
| 22 |
| RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be transmitted to |
| 23 |
| the Governor and the Governor's Travel Control Board.
