| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois |
| 3 |
| were deeply saddened to learn of the death of Alzata Pincham of |
| 4 |
| Chicago on April 9, 2005; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Pincham was born June 27, 1925, to Katherine |
| 6 |
| Cox Henry and James Frederick Henry in Louisville, Tennessee; |
| 7 |
| and
|
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, After graduating from Tennessee State University |
| 9 |
| in 1947, she taught elementary school in Lexington, |
| 10 |
| Mississippi; on August 31, 1948, she married R. Eugene Pincham; |
| 11 |
| and
|
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, She and her husband moved to Chicago in 1948, and |
| 13 |
| she continued teaching with the Chicago Board of Education |
| 14 |
| until 1959 while her husband was in law school; when he began |
| 15 |
| his career, she "retired" to a career of homemaker and mother; |
| 16 |
| and
|
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Pincham was active in numerous community |
| 18 |
| organizations throughout her life; she was a member of the |
| 19 |
| Tennessee State University Vintagers 50-year alumni |
| 20 |
| association, vice-president of the West Chesterfield Community |
| 21 |
| Association, president of the Gillespie Local School Council, |
| 22 |
| Chicago State University Taggers Association, and former |
| 23 |
| Sunday school teacher at Faith United Methodist Church; and
|
| 24 |
| WHEREAS, She was a 30-year breast cancer survivor and an |
| 25 |
| active member of Trinity United Church of Christ where she was |
| 26 |
| a charter-founding member and president of the Can-Cer-Vive |
| 27 |
| cancer survivors' ministry; and
|
| 28 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Alzata Pincham is felt by all who |
| 29 |
| knew and loved her, especially her husband of 57 years, retired |
