| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the |
| 3 |
| State of Illinois are pleased to recognize the 50th anniversary |
| 4 |
| of Moweaqua Boy Scout Troop 85; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, In the mid-1950s, the Moweaqua Rotary became the |
| 6 |
| sponsoring organization of Boy Scout Troop 85; throughout the |
| 7 |
| years, the troop has had just three Scoutmasters, with Howard |
| 8 |
| Burns serving for over 40 of those years; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, Out of Moweaqua's small community of about 2,000 |
| 10 |
| people, Boy Scout Troop 85 has produced 69 Eagle Scouts, the |
| 11 |
| highest rank in Scouting; among its veterans are doctors, |
| 12 |
| dentists, a college professor, a lawyer, a preacher, a career |
| 13 |
| military officer, a restaurant manager, a chef, a school |
| 14 |
| administrator, teachers, businessmen, a professional Scouter, |
| 15 |
| firemen, police officers, computer programmers and system |
| 16 |
| designers, and many others; and
|
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, The Scouts have participated in many camping |
| 18 |
| projects and adventures, but true to the spirit of Scouting, |
| 19 |
| they have participated in numerous hours of service projects |
| 20 |
| for the community; each year, the Troop conducts a food drive |
| 21 |
| for the Moweaqua Food Pantry and assists the Rotary Club in |
| 22 |
| recycling; numerous individual projects have benefited the |
| 23 |
| school, a variety of churches, numerous cemeteries, the nursing |
| 24 |
| home, and the community; and
|
| 25 |
| WHEREAS, A special celebration of the 50th anniversary of |
| 26 |
| Troop 85 is planned for Saturday, August 12, 2006; therefore, |
| 27 |

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |

| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
