HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The House is pleased to recognize achievements of 
3
the citizens of this State; and

 
4
    WHEREAS, William R. Brett is a 2006 inductee  into the Leo 
5
High School Hall of Fame; and

 
6
    WHEREAS, Mr. Brett was born on  July 16, 1933, graduated 
7
from  Little Flower Elementary School in 1947, Leo High School 
8
in 1951, and attended Notre Dame University for 2 years; and
 
9
    WHEREAS, He has been the owner of Automotive Painter's 
10
Supply for 36 years; and

 
11
    WHEREAS, During his attendance at Leo, Mr. Brett immersed 
12
himself in the school's activities as a member of the Knights 
13
of Blessed Sacrament, the swim team, and heavy weight 
14
basketball under Coach Red Gleason who called his team "a 
15
fighting outfit"; and

 
16
    WHEREAS, He helped the Leo Lions through a tough 1950-1951 
17
Catholic League Season; and

 
18
    WHEREAS, There were tougher seasons ahead for Leo High 
19
School and Bill Brett was out in front making calls to 
20
classmates in order to build one of the most significant Class 
21
Scholarship Funds in the school's fiscal arsenal; and 

 
22
    WHEREAS,  Bill Brett is the first to show up when his school 
23
needs him; he has  reached out to private foundations and helped 
24
secure an annual unrestricted grant; and

 
25
    WHEREAS, As owner of Automotive Painters Supply Company of 
26
Chicago, Bill has helped Leo refinish many of its vehicles; and

    WHEREAS, Mr. Brett is a member of the Leo High School 
2
Alumni Association,
the President of the Mother McAuley High 
3
School Fathers Club and has been a member for almost 18 years, 
4
he is the
Most Holy Redeemer Girls and Boys Basketball Coach, a 
5
member of the  Most Holy Redeemer Parish Council, a member of 
6
the   Most Holy Redeemer School Board, a member of the Truman 
7
College, Board of Advisory,  Washburn Trade School, Board of 
8
Advisory, has received the
ASIA Automotive Trade Organization, 
9
Board of Advisory Award, and the  Catherine McAuley Leadership 
10
Award, 2005; therefore, be it
 
11
    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
12
NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
13
we honor William R. Brett on his 2006 induction  into the Leo 
14
High School Hall of Fame; and be it further

 
15
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
16
presented to William R. Brett as a token of our esteem.
