| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, May Bilek is turning 101 years old on May 1, 2006; |
| 3 |
| she was born on May 1, 1905, to Christine and Fred; she grew up |
| 4 |
| living in a tenant house next to Cubs Park; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, When Mrs. Bilek was a girl, she would come home |
| 6 |
| from school and sneak out to the family garden where she |
| 7 |
| selectively ate the vegetable that her mother was going to cook |
| 8 |
| for supper; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Bilek loved to go dancing; she still tells |
| 10 |
| stories of how she always wore the wrong shoes and that is why |
| 11 |
| her feet hurt to this day; and
|
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Bilek met her husband, Frank, when he was a |
| 13 |
| tenant in her family's home; after they were married, they |
| 14 |
| lived with her brother and brother-in-law; she still remembers |
| 15 |
| all of the cooking and cleaning after work at the State Tax |
| 16 |
| Commission and poker night, her favorite night of the week; and
|
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, When Mrs. Bilek was 44 years old, she and her |
| 18 |
| husband moved to Elgin, where she lived for 44 years; they |
| 19 |
| rented their home from Ethyl and Wilber Dorschner; after Mrs. |
| 20 |
| Bilek and Mrs. Dorschner were widowed, Mrs. Bilek took care of |
| 21 |
| Mrs. Dorschner when she could no longer take care of herself; |
| 22 |
| and
|
| 23 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Bilek was a bingo volunteer at Heritage Manor |
| 24 |
| for 5 years; in 1993, she came to Heritage Manor as a resident; |
| 25 |
| and
|
| 26 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Bilek was always involved in the community; |
| 27 |
| she enjoyed jury duty and was proud to serve; and
|
| 28 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Bilek and her husband had no children, but |
