| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The education of children, the future of our |
| 3 |
| country, is one of the most noble life pursuits an individual |
| 4 |
| can choose; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Karen Breunig is retiring after 30 years of |
| 6 |
| dedicated service in education; and
|
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, She has taught at Nettle Creek since 1975 and is |
| 8 |
| the Head Teacher of Erienna School; she was the 1998-1999 |
| 9 |
| Outstanding Educator for Nettle Creek School and the 2000 |
| 10 |
| Sandwich recipient of the Studs Terkel Humanitarian Award; and
|
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, She was named Grand Lady of Newark on July 4, |
| 12 |
| 2000, and was Newarks of the World Chairman in 1997; she was on |
| 13 |
| the Sesquicentennial Committee for the Village of Newark in |
| 14 |
| 1984 and 1985, for which she was an untiring Leadership |
| 15 |
| Committee Chairman; she served as the Philanthropic Education |
| 16 |
| Organization Treasurer from 2002 to 2004 and as the Charles B. |
| 17 |
| Phillips Library Board Secretary from 2003 to 2005; she was the |
| 18 |
| Sandwich Fair Association Gazebo Information Co-Chairman from |
| 19 |
| 1993 to 2005 and the Sandwich Fair History Book Organizer in |
| 20 |
| 2001; she has been the Christian Science Church Secretary and a |
| 21 |
| Charles B. Phillips Library Volunteer for many years; and
|
| 22 |
| WHEREAS, For the past 30 years, Ms. Breunig has been some |
| 23 |
| one to count on; always there when students, other staff,
her |
| 24 |
| family, and committees needed her; she has inspired others to |
| 25 |
| be better in their lives; throughout her career, she has come |
| 26 |
| to be known as generous, kind, old-fashioned, independent, |
| 27 |
| diplomatic, wise, humble, orderly, driven, a night-owl, and a |
| 28 |
| loving spirit; therefore, be it
