| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, St. Alphonsus Lignori School in Prospect Heights |
| 3 |
| was presented with the nation's top award for excellence in |
| 4 |
| education by the U.S. Department of Education; the parochial |
| 5 |
| school was named a 2004 No Child Left Behind Blue Ribbon School |
| 6 |
| of Excellence; and
|
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, The Blue Ribbon is the highest designation for |
| 8 |
| both public and private schools to receive; it is awarded to |
| 9 |
| schools that either meet or exceed state testing requirements |
| 10 |
| or to schools that have made great strides in closing |
| 11 |
| achievement gaps; and
|
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, Only 14 schools in Illinois received the Blue |
| 13 |
| Ribbon Award and only two of them were parochial schools, both |
| 14 |
| under the Archdiocese of Chicago; and
|
| 15 |
| WHEREAS, St. Alphonsus Lignori is a school of 315 students |
| 16 |
| from preschool through eighth grade; it earned the award by |
| 17 |
| posting high scores from its March 2003 Terra Nova standardized |
| 18 |
| tests, which were above Blue Ribbon requirements; therefore, be |
| 19 |

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 21 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 22 |
| we congratulate the students, faculty, and staff of St. |
| 23 |
| Alphonsus Lignori School on being named a 2004 No Child Left |
| 24 |
| Behind Blue Ribbon School of Excellence; and be it further
|
| 25 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 26 |
| presented to St. Alphonsus Lignori School as an expression of |
| 27 |
| our respect and esteem.
