| AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 4296 by replacing |

| everything after the enacting clause with the following:

| "Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by adding |
| 5 |
| Section 3-122 as follows:
|

| (625 ILCS 5/3-122 new) |
| 7 |
| Sec. 3-122. Salvaged vehicles; reporting; Secretary's |
| 8 |
| website. |
| 9 |
| (a) Any insurance company that pays a total loss claim on a |
| 10 |
| vehicle and takes possession of that vehicle for the purpose of |
| 11 |
| repair and sale must, within 5 business days of taking |
| 12 |
| possession of the vehicle, report to the Secretary of State the |
| 13 |
| vehicle identification number of that vehicle. |
| 14 |
| (b) Any insurance company that pays the repair costs for a |
| 15 |
| vehicle, if the insurance company also recommends to its |
| 16 |
| customer a third party who will purchase the vehicle for |
| 17 |
| salvage, must report to the Secretary of State, within 5 days |
| 18 |
| of paying the repair costs, the vehicle identification number |
| 19 |
| of that vehicle.

| 20 |
| (c) The Secretary shall establish and maintain a website |
| 21 |
| listing all the vehicle identification numbers reported to the |
| 22 |
| Secretary under subsections (a) and (b). |
| 23 |
| (d) The Secretary shall adopt rules for implementing this |
| 24 |
| Section.".
