| AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 2977

| AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 2977 by replacing |

| everything after the enacting clause with the following:

| "Section 5. The Alcoholism and Other Drug Abuse and |
| 5 |
| Dependency Act is amended by adding Section 25-25 as follows:
|

| (20 ILCS 301/25-25 new) |

| Sec. 25-25. Youth recovery homes; pilot program. The |
| 8 |
| Department shall establish a youth recovery home pilot program |
| 9 |
| to give youth a supervised, drug-free place to live after |
| 10 |
| inpatient treatment when returning to their families is not an |
| 11 |
| option because of domestic violence, drug or alcohol abuse, or |
| 12 |
| other health and safety concerns. |
| 13 |
| Under the pilot program, the Department shall strive to |
| 14 |
| place each youth recovery home within 20 miles of an existing |
| 15 |
| inpatient youth substance abuse facility, as a means of |
| 16 |
| ensuring continuity of care as youth are transferred through |
| 17 |
| the recovery process.

| 18 |
| The Department shall adopt rules as necessary to implement |
| 19 |
| the pilot program.
|
| 20 |
| Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
| 21 |
| becoming law.".
