<SynopsisText>Makes the same changes as Senate Amendment No. 2, but with technical corrections. The changes made in Senate Amendment No. 2 are as follows: In the Section concerning the identification, evaluation, and placement of children with disabilities, makes changes in relation to definitions, when the eligibility determination must be made and the IEP meeting completed, and references to federal law. In the Section concerning an impartial due process hearing, makes changes in relation to the issues that may be addressed, the timeline with respect to amended hearing requests, the resolution meeting process, the time limits with respect to a hearing, and the hearing officer's decision.</SynopsisText><synopsistitle>House Amendment No. 1</synopsistitle>
<SynopsisText>Provides that the party who requested the hearing may amend the request once as a matter of right by filing the amended request within 5 days after filing the initial request, and makes other changes concerning amended requests. Provides that all reasonable efforts must be made by the parties to present their respective cases at the hearing within a cumulative period of 7 days (instead of providing that the length of the hearing must not exceed 5 days unless good cause is shown), and makes other changes concerning the length and scheduling of hearings. Restores current law with respect to when a civil action must be brought to 120 (instead of 90) days after a copy of the hearing officer's decision is mailed. Provides that the handling of amended requests must be included in the training of hearing officer candidates.</SynopsisText><synopsistitle>House Amendment No. 2</synopsistitle>
