<reference>745 ILCS 49/72 new</reference><aliasreference></aliasreference><SynopsisText>Amends the Good Samaritan Act. Provides that any professional engineer, architect, surveyor, civil engineer, or structural engineer who in good faith provides engineering services in response to a natural disaster or other catastrophic event shall not be liable for civil damages as a result of his or her acts or omissions in providing the engineering services, except for willful and wanton misconduct. Provides that the immunity applies to services that are provided during an emergency or within 90 days following the end of an emergency. Provides that the time may be extended by an executive order issued by the Governor.</SynopsisText><synopsistitle>Senate Committee Amendment No. 1</synopsistitle>
<SynopsisText>Deletes everything after the enacting clause. Reinserts provisions of the original bill with the following changes. Removes references to "civil engineers". Provides that the exemption from civil liability is for professional services (instead of engineering services) of the listed professionals. Provides that the exemption applies to professional services in response to emergencies. Provides that professional services must be performed without fee for the immunity to apply. Provides that the immunity applies to services that are provided without fee during or within 60 days (instead of 90 days) following the end of an emergency, disaster, or catastrophic event.
