<synopsistitle></synopsistitle>
<reference>20 ILCS 605/605-430 new</reference><aliasreference></aliasreference><SynopsisText>     Amends the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois. Provides that, subject to appropriation, the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity shall establish the Technology-Based Economic Development Council to help promote and develop technology-based business and industry in Illinois. Sets forth that the purposes of this Council are to: (i) provide leadership to technology-based business and industry in Illinois by defining goals and objectives for technology-based economic development and by identifying means of achieving these goals and objectives; (ii) gather and disseminate information on issues particular to technology-based economic development; (iii) facilitate innovative partnerships between public and private entities that promote the growth of technology-based business and industry in this State; (iv) streamline technology-based economic development revenue from private and public sources; and (v) enhance opportunities for technology-based business and industry in Illinois. Authorizes the Council to provide programs, events, organizational support, and other value added services that support the Council's purposes. Provides that the membership of the Council shall include: 2 representatives of the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, appointed by the Department; 5 representatives of technology-based business and industry who are knowledgeable about issues particular to technology-based economic development and who represent diverse geographic areas of the State, appointed by the Governor; and 4 representatives of technology-based business and industry who are knowledgeble about issues particular to technology-based economic development, appointed by each of the 4 legislative leaders. Defines "technology-based business and industry" and "technology-based economic development".</SynopsisText></synopsis>
