HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the State of Illinois wish to congratulate Park Forest Chief of Police, Francis DioGuardi, on the occasion of his retirement from the Park Forest Police Department; and

WHEREAS, Francis DioGuardi was sworn in as a police officer for the Village of Park Forest in 1971; and

WHEREAS, Mr. DioGuardi is responsible for establishing the Park Forest Police Department's first public information program; and

WHEREAS, In 1982, Mr. DioGuardi was promoted to detective and juvenile officer; he formerly served as president of the Cook County Juvenile Officers Association; and

WHEREAS, From 1982 to 1990, Mr. DioGuardi served as the director of the crime prevention and youth services division; programs established under the division evolved into the Village's current community policing and neighborhood watch programs; and

WHEREAS, Mr. DioGuardi was one of the first D.A.R.E. officers in the State; and

WHEREAS, Mr. DioGuardi was named Watch Commander in 1995; he was promoted to Captain of Operations five years later; he was named Park Forest Chief of Police in 2003; and

WHEREAS, In 1987, Mr. DioGuardi was selected Park Forest's Officer of the Year; he was also named Citizen of the Year by the Park Forest Jaycees; and

WHEREAS, Mr. DioGuardi assisted legislators in the creation of the State's first Domestic Violence Act; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Mr. Francis DioGuardi on the occasion of his retirement from the Park Forest Police Department; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Francis DioGuardi as an expression of our sincere respect and esteem for his many years of devoted service to the Park Forest Police Department.
