HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 
3
State of Illinois are pleased to congratulate Tony Perry of 
4
Kankakee County on winning the Leonardo da Vinci Award of 
5
Excellence for Entrepreneur given by the Order Sons of Italy in 
6
America - State of Illinois; and

 
7
    WHEREAS, Mr. Perry was recognized as an Italian American 
8
who has become a pride and inspiration to the Italian 
9
community; his impeccable credentials and accomplishments met 
10
the criteria for the award; he attributes his success to 
11
working hard and long, being honest and unselfish, and the 
12
unwavering support of his family; and

 
13
    WHEREAS, Mr. Perry built what is now known as the Perry 
14
Group, a successful and highly respected professional 
15
commercial-industrial real estate sales and development firm 
16
located in Bradley, with additional offices located in Will 
17
County and the City of Chicago; Mr. Perry also works on behalf 
18
of Kankakee County as executive director of the Area Jobs 
19
Economic Development Association; his efforts have been 
20
instrumental in bringing more than 70 industries into Kankakee 
21
County; he will celebrate his 40th year working  on behalf of 
22
Kankakee County in 2005; and

 
23
    WHEREAS, Mr. Perry is responsible for the annual Christmas 
24
in April project in Kankakee County; through the use of 
25
volunteers, Christmas in April has been able to rehabilitate 
26
490 Kankakee County homes during the past 12 years; since its 
27
inception, Christmas in April has spread to 9 other communities 
28
within the State; and

    WHEREAS, Mr. Perry has also been involved in and worked on 
30
behalf of Make A Difference Day, his church, and many other 
31
charities and social and professional services on a local,

State, and national level; he is known for sharing his time, 
2
talents, and treasures on a very regular basis; and

 
3
    WHEREAS, Mr. Perry and his wife, Ellie, have lived in 
4
Kankakee County since 1962, raising 5 children, Elizabeth, 
5
Lauren, Thomas, Joseph, and Anne; over the years, their family 
6
has been blessed by the addition of sons-in-law, Dan LaMore and 
7
Dennis Wiley; daughter-in-law, Mechelle Perry; and 4 
8
grandchildren, Luke Perry Wiley, Hannah Wiley, and Nicholas and 
9
Brandon LaMore; therefore, be it

 
10
    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
11
NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
12
congratulate Tony Perry on winning the Leonardo da Vinci Award 
13
of Excellence for Entrepreneur; and be it further

 
14
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
15
presented to Tony Perry as an expression of our respect and 
16
esteem.
