| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, Firefighters are part of an unselfish |
| 3 |
| organization of men and women who hold devotion to duty above |
| 4 |
| personal risk and count dedication to service above personal |
| 5 |
| comfort and convenience; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, Firefighters carry on the tradition of service to |
| 7 |
| their community and strive unceasingly to find better ways of |
| 8 |
| protecting their fellow human beings from the ravages of fire |
| 9 |
| and disaster; and
|
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, Dedicated firefighters from across Illinois |
| 11 |
| respond to the urgent call for assistance and put their lives |
| 12 |
| and personal safety at risk to save the lives and property of |
| 13 |
| Illinois citizens; and
|
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, The Illinois Firefighter Memorial recognizes the |
| 15 |
| firefighters who have given their lives in the line of duty and |
| 16 |
| to those who heroically serve with courage, pride, and honor; |
| 17 |
| therefore, be it
|
| 18 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 19 |
| NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 20 |
| the second Thursday of May of each year hereafter shall be |
| 21 |
| known as the "Illinois Medal of Honor and Firefighter Memorial |
| 22 |
| Day" throughout the State of Illinois.
