    AN ACT relating to higher education.

    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 
3
represented in the General Assembly:

    Section 5. The University of Illinois Act is amended by 
5
changing
Section 1 as follows:

    (110 ILCS 305/1)  (from Ch. 144, par. 22)

    Sec. 1. Board of Trustees. The Board of Trustees of the 
8
University of
Illinois shall
be a body corporate and politic, 
9
and by that name and
style shall have perpetual succession, 
10
have power to contract and be
contracted with, to sue and be 
11
sued, provided that any suit against the
Board based upon a 
12
claim sounding in tort must be filed in the Court of
Claims, to 
13
plead and be impleaded, to acquire, hold, and convey real and

14
personal property; to have and use a common seal, and to alter 
15
the same at
pleasure; to make and establish by-laws, and to 
16
alter or repeal the same as
they shall deem necessary, for the 
17
management or government, in all its
various departments and 
18
relations, of the University of Illinois,
for the organization 
19
and endowment of which provision is made by this act.
