<reference>55 ILCS 5/3-6040 new</reference><aliasreference></aliasreference><SynopsisText>     Amends the Counties Code. Allows the sheriff of any county, with the approval of the county board and in cooperation with the chief judge of the circuit in which that county is located, to implement a pilot program providing for the conduct of status hearings through interactive video conferences. Provides that the sheriff shall report to the Governor and to the General Assembly concerning the use, costs, effectiveness, and future viability of interactive video conferences for status hearings.</SynopsisText></synopsis>
