SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Ernest "Todd" Collins II of Central Lake, Michigan, formerly of River Forest and Pinehurst, North Carolina, who passed away on May 19, 2024 at the age of 70; and

WHEREAS, Todd Collins was born on January 4, 1954 in Chicago to Todd and Lynn (Trimmer) Collins; and

WHEREAS, Todd Collins was raised in River Forest and attended Washington Elementary School, Roosevelt Middle School, and Oak Park and River Forest High School, where he played French horn in the marching band and competed on the wrestling team; and

WHEREAS, Todd Collins earned his MBA in finance from DePaul University and became a successful entrepreneur; he was the president of the direct-mail marketing business Lynn Marketing Group, which he ran with his then wife, Karol; they also raised two daughters together; and

WHEREAS, Todd Collins was an active member of many community organizations, including First United Church of Oak Park and the Junior Achievement program, with whom he volunteered to teach entrepreneurship at Bellaire Middle School; and

WHEREAS, Todd Collins was a proud fourth-generation summer resident of Torch Lake, Michigan, before making it his permanent residence in 2011; he was an avid sailor and golfer, sailing with the Torch Lake Yacht Club and organizing its annual golf scramble; he also enjoyed snow sports, working as a ski instructor at Wilmot Mountain in Wisconsin and volunteering at his daughters' ski races; and

WHEREAS, Todd Collins was preceded in death by his parents, Todd and Lynn Collins, and his favorite dog, Jack; and

WHEREAS, Todd Collins, at the time of his passing, was survived by his daughters and grandchildren, Erica (David) Schulze and their son, Emmett, and Elisse Collins and her children, Maysen, Alden, and Finley; his sisters, Kathleen (Mike) Babb and Nancy (Mark) Saldi; and many nieces and nephew; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Ernest "Todd" Collins II and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Ernest "Todd" Collins II as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
