| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
| 3 | to learn of the death of Ernest "Todd" Collins II of Central | ||||||
| 4 | Lake, Michigan, formerly of River Forest and Pinehurst, North | ||||||
| 5 | Carolina, who passed away on May 19, 2024 at the age of 70; and | ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Todd Collins was born on January 4, 1954 in | ||||||
| 7 | Chicago to Todd and Lynn (Trimmer) Collins; and | ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Todd Collins was raised in River Forest and | ||||||
| 9 | attended Washington Elementary School, Roosevelt Middle | ||||||
| 10 | School, and Oak Park and River Forest High School, where he | ||||||
| 11 | played French horn in the marching band and competed on the | ||||||
| 12 | wrestling team; and | ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Todd Collins earned his MBA in finance from | ||||||
| 14 | DePaul University and became a successful entrepreneur; he was | ||||||
| 15 | the president of the direct-mail marketing business Lynn | ||||||
| 16 | Marketing Group, which he ran with his then wife, Karol; they | ||||||
| 17 | also raised two daughters together; and | ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Todd Collins was an active member of many | ||||||
| 19 | community organizations, including First United Church of Oak | ||||||
| 20 | Park and the Junior Achievement program, with whom he | ||||||
| 21 | volunteered to teach entrepreneurship at Bellaire Middle | ||||||

| 1 | School; and | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, Todd Collins was a proud fourth-generation summer | ||||||
| 3 | resident of Torch Lake, Michigan, before making it his | ||||||
| 4 | permanent residence in 2011; he was an avid sailor and golfer, | ||||||
| 5 | sailing with the Torch Lake Yacht Club and organizing its | ||||||
| 6 | annual golf scramble; he also enjoyed snow sports, working as | ||||||
| 7 | a ski instructor at Wilmot Mountain in Wisconsin and | ||||||
| 8 | volunteering at his daughters' ski races; and | ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Todd Collins was preceded in death by his | ||||||
| 10 | parents, Todd and Lynn Collins, and his favorite dog, Jack; | ||||||
| 11 | and | ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Todd Collins, at the time of his passing, was | ||||||
| 13 | survived by his daughters and grandchildren, Erica (David) | ||||||
| 14 | Schulze and their son, Emmett, and Elisse Collins and her | ||||||
| 15 | children, Maysen, Alden, and Finley; his sisters, Kathleen | ||||||
| 16 | (Mike) Babb and Nancy (Mark) Saldi; and many nieces and | ||||||
| 17 | nephew; therefore, be it | ||||||
| 18 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 19 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 20 | Ernest "Todd" Collins II and extend our sincere condolences to | ||||||
| 21 | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
| 22 | further | ||||||
