SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3congratulate James Robinson, a native son of Rockford, on his
4accomplishments; and
 
5    WHEREAS, James Robinson's football career began at
6Rockford Lutheran School, where he set Illinois High School
7Association all-time records for career rushing yards (9,045),
8rushing touchdowns (158), and total points (948); he then
9attended Illinois State University, where he finished second
10all-time in career rushing yards, touchdowns, and all-purpose
11yards while consistently elevating the reputation of Illinois
12athletics on the national stage; and
 
13    WHEREAS, James Robinson made NFL history with the
14Jacksonville Jaguars in 2020, becoming the first undrafted
15rookie in the common-draft era to record 1,414 scrimmage
16yards, and this achievement earned him PFWA All-Rookie honors,
17being named NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month, and being
18listed on NFL Top 100 Players; since then, he has continued his
19professional journey with multiple NFL teams, further
20cementing his reputation as one of the greatest undrafted
21success stories in league history; and
 
22    WHEREAS, James Robinson's impact has extended beyond the

1United States; he earned the Man of the Match award during the
2NFL's International Series in London, England in 2021,
3underscoring his talent and his role as an ambassador for
4Illinois on the global stage; and
 
5    WHEREAS, James Robinson, beyond his remarkable statistics,
6has served as an inspiration for young athletes, showing that
7hard work, resilience, and determination can overcome even the
8greatest of odds, and his journey from Rockford to the NFL
9continues to inspire the next generation of Illinoisans; and
 
10    WHEREAS, James Robinson's story of perseverance,
11achievement, and service honors the spirit of excellence and
12community that defines our State; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate James
15Robinson on his accomplishments and his soaring career in the
16NFL, and we thank him for continuing to serve as a positive
17role model to young Illinoisans; and be it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to James Robinson as an expression of our esteem and
20respect.
