SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to 
3congratulate Richard Veenstra on the occasion of his 
4retirement as Mayor of Addison; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Mayor Veenstra was elected to his first term as 
6mayor in 2013 and re-elected in 2017 and 2021; previously, he 
7served as deputy mayor; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Mayor Veenstra served on the Addison Village 
9Board of Trustees after having been appointed to fill a 
10vacated term in 1992; he was elected to a full term in 1993 and 
11re-elected in 1997, 2001, 2005, and 2009; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Mayor Veenstra currently serves as a vice 
13president on the Illinois Municipal League (IML) Board of 
14Directors; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Mayor Veenstra is a licensed pharmacist and 
16former general manager of Specialty Pharmacy for CVS/Caremark; 
17he is a past board member of the Illinois Pharmacists 
18Association and a past president of the DuPage Pharmacists 
19Association; he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in 
20Pharmacy from the University of Illinois Chicago; and

1    WHEREAS, Mayor Veenstra is a member of the Americans of 
2Italian Descent and traces his ancestry to Italy via his 
3paternal grandmother as well as his maternal grandparents; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Mayor Veenstra and his wife, Mary Ann, have lived 
5in Addison since 1973; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL 
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate 
8Richard Veenstra on the occasion of his retirement as Mayor of 
9Addison, and we wish him the best in all his future endeavours; 
10and be it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
12presented to Mayor Veenstra as a symbol of our respect and 
13esteem.
