| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate the Homer Junior High |
| 4 | | School wrestling team, the Mustangs, on winning the 2026 |
| 5 | | Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA) Class AA State |
| 6 | | Championship; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, The IESA Class AA State Wrestling Tournament was |
| 8 | | held at Northern Illinois University from March 13 through |
| 9 | | March 14, 2026; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, The Mustangs sent ten qualifiers to the IESA |
| 11 | | State Wrestling Tournament, of which eight achieved placement |
| 12 | | finishes in their respective weight classes; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, The Mustangs' Jake Allison finished in fourth |
| 14 | | place; Johnny Djikas, Barrett Kocsis, Johnny Paun, and Carson |
| 15 | | Russell finished in third place; Zain Askar finished in second |
| 16 | | place; finally, Wyatt McClain and Joseph Ponterio finished as |
| 17 | | state champions; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, The Mustangs won back-to-back state championships |
| 19 | | and achieved the first perfect season in Homer Junior High |
| 20 | | School wrestling history, finishing 17-0 in duals and winning |
| 21 | | all seven of the team's tournaments, the IESA Class AA State |
|

| 1 | | Regional 11, the IESA Class AA State Sectional C, and the 2026 |
| 2 | | IESA Class AA State Championship; and

| 3 | | WHEREAS, The Mustangs are led by coaches David Rush, Paul |
| 4 | | Oster, DeMetre Smith, Anthony Grek, John Paun, and Mikey |
| 5 | | Kinney; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, The Mustangs' state championship team is |
| 7 | | comprised of Jake Allison, Zain Askar, Johnny Djikas, Drew |
| 8 | | Dobesh, Barrett Kocsis, Wyatt McClain, Johnny Paun, Joseph |
| 9 | | Ponterio, Carson Russell, and Jayden Vargas; therefore, be it

| 10 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
| 11 | | HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 12 | | we congratulate the Homer Junior High School wrestling team, |
| 13 | | the Mustangs, on winning the 2026 Illinois Elementary School |
| 14 | | Association (IESA) Class AA State Championship; and be it |
| 15 | | further

| 16 | | RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be |
