HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Patrick Statter on the 
4occasion of his retirement from the Northeastern Federation of 
5Labor; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Patrick Statter joined the United Retail Workers 
7Union in 1979 and has dedicated the last 45 years to 
8representing working people, including 40 years on the Central 
9Labor Council, serving as a steward for his local union, and 
10working in several business and leadership roles within the 
11United Food and Commercial Workers Union (UFCW); and
 
12    WHEREAS, Patrick Statter, since being tasked by Local 881 
13UFCW President Ron Powell to assume the role of president of 
14the Northeastern Federation of Labor, has served with 
15distinction for 18 years and found a unique purpose in 
16bringing the federation into a new era for organized labor in 
17Illinois; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Under Patrick Statter's leadership, the activity 
19and influence of the Northeastern Federation of Labor grew 
20exponentially, and the NEFL now enjoys a reputation as a 
21regional leader in advancing justice and opportunity for all 
22Illinoisans; and

1    WHEREAS, Patrick Statter, whether representing members in 
2the field or managing staff in the office, has shown an 
3impeccable commitment to honesty and fairness, and his 
4tireless work ethic knows no boundaries, which is evidenced by 
5his rallying workers for better benefits, dedicating nights 
6and weekends to charitable causes, and responding at a 
7moment's notice to help a colleague in need; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Patrick Statter is a lifelong resident of McHenry 
9County; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
11HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
12we congratulate Patrick Statter on his retirement from the 
13Northeastern Federation of Labor, and we wish him all the best 
14in his future endeavors; and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
16presented to Patrick Statter as a symbol of our respect and 
17esteem.
