HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, It is highly fitting that the Illinois House of 
3Representatives pays honor and respect to those who have 
4served our country and, in doing so, have made the ultimate 
5sacrifice for our nation; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Sergeant First Class Ogden Neil Thompson of 
7Aurora served with the U.S. Army as a member of Company G, 2nd 
8Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division; and
 
9    WHEREAS, SFC Thompson was listed as Missing in Action 
10while fighting the enemy near Unsan, North Korea on November 
111, 1950; and
 
12    WHEREAS, SFC Thompson was presumed dead on December 31, 
131953; and
 
14    WHEREAS, The Heroes Way Designation Program through the 
15Illinois Department of Transportation honors fallen Illinois 
16heroes who have been killed in action while performing active 
17military duty with the United States Armed Forces and has 
18designated Route 25 in Aurora from Sullivan Road to Ashland 
19Avenue as the SFC Ogden N. Thompson Memorial Highway;

1    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
2HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
3we commend the designation of the SFC Ogden N. Thompson 
4Memorial Highway as part of the Heroes Way Designation Program 
5through the Illinois Department of Transportation; and be it 
6further
 
7    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be 
8presented to the family of SFC Thompson.
