| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Robert "Bob" Friend on | ||||||
| 4 | the occasion of his retirement from the Glenbard Township High | ||||||
| 5 | School District 87 Board of Education; and | ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Robert Friend previously served Lombard | ||||||
| 7 | Elementary School District 44 from 1999 to 2009, and he has | ||||||
| 8 | served Glenbard Township High School District 87 since 2009; | ||||||
| 9 | and | ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Robert Friend has played an integral role as a | ||||||
| 11 | leader and member of the Glenbard Township High School | ||||||
| 12 | District 87 Board of Education, making a positive impact in | ||||||
| 13 | several major areas, including expanding Advanced Placement | ||||||
| 14 | and Dual Credit courses and summer school programs, developing | ||||||
| 15 | the school district's Profile of a Graduate, implementing | ||||||
| 16 | one-to-one teaching and learning with iPads for all students | ||||||
| 17 | and faculty, creating the Minority Student Achievement | ||||||
| 18 | Committee, and repeatedly achieving Illinois State Board of | ||||||
| 19 | Education Financial Recognition status for excellence in | ||||||
| 20 | fiscal stewardship; and | ||||||
| 21 | WHEREAS, Robert Friend has served as the head of each of | ||||||
| 22 | the Glenbard Township High School District 87 Board of | ||||||

| 1 | Education's committees, including the Finance and Facility | ||||||
| 2 | Committee, the Policy Committee, the Student Performance and | ||||||
| 3 | Achievement Committee, and the Communication, Legislation and | ||||||
| 4 | Partnerships Committee; and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Robert Friend has held the position of division | ||||||
| 6 | chair for the DuPage Division of the Illinois Association of | ||||||
| 7 | School Boards (IASB) since 2005, and he is an IASB Master Board | ||||||
| 8 | Member and an IASB LeaderShop Fellow in Glenbard's recognition | ||||||
| 9 | programs; he is also a member of the Lombard Area Chamber of | ||||||
| 10 | Commerce and Industry, the Tri-Town YMCA Board of Directors, | ||||||
| 11 | and the Men's Club at First United Methodist Church of | ||||||
| 12 | Lombard; and | ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Robert Friend has been the recipient of a number | ||||||
| 14 | of accolades, including receiving the Agricultural Education | ||||||
| 15 | Advocacy Award from the Illinois Leadership Council for | ||||||
| 16 | Agricultural Education and being named Lombard's 2020 Man of | ||||||
| 17 | the Year by the Rotary Club of Lombard; and | ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Robert Friend has provided tremendous leadership | ||||||
| 19 | and vision to Glenbard Township High School District 87, | ||||||
| 20 | helping guide district schools for the past 26 years; | ||||||
| 21 | therefore, be it | ||||||
| 22 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||

| 1 | HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 2 | we congratulate Robert "Bob" Friend on the occasion of his | ||||||
| 3 | retirement from the Glenbard Township High School District 87 | ||||||
| 4 | Board of Education, and we thank him for his dedication to the | ||||||
| 5 | board, staff, and community; and be it further | ||||||
| 6 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
