CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT HC0010 Introduced 2/18/2025, by Rep. John M. Cabello SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED: | | | Proposes to amend the Legislature Article of the Illinois Constitution. Provides that the annual base salary of a member shall be the same as the annual median household income in the State in the first year of a General Assembly as reported by the United States Bureau of the Census. Provides that the General Assembly shall pass no law that increases the base salary of a member of the General Assembly. Provides that the Amendment takes effect upon the conclusion of the 104th General Assembly. |

| 8 | | of this resolution a proposition to amend Article IV of the |
| 9 | | Illinois Constitution by changing Sections 11 as follows: |

| 13 | | SECTION 11. COMPENSATION AND ALLOWANCES |
| 14 | | The annual base salary of a member shall be the same as the |
| 15 | | annual median household income in this State in the first year |
| 16 | | of a General Assembly as reported by the United States Bureau |
| 17 | | of the Census. A member shall receive a salary and allowances |
| 18 | | as provided by law, but changes in the allowances salary of a |
| 19 | | member shall not take effect during the term for which he has |
| 20 | | been elected. The General Assembly shall pass no law that |
| 21 | | increases the base salary of a member of the General Assembly. |
