| 2 | | AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 5499 by replacing |

| 4 | | "Section 5. The sum of $5,000,000, or so much of that sum |
| 5 | | as may be necessary, is appropriated from the General Revenue |
| 6 | | Fund to the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity |
| 7 | | for the purpose of making grants to Illinois chambers of |
| 8 | | commerce and other neighborhood merchant associations to carry |
| 9 | | out shop local campaigns and multilingual public awareness |
| 10 | | efforts and to coordinate with the State and the City of |
| 11 | | Chicago to rebuild foot traffic and restore confidence in |
| 12 | | business corridors affected by federal immigration enforcement |
| 13 | | disruptions.

| 14 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect July 1, |
| 15 | | 2026.". |
