SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened 
3to learn of the death of Pastor Brenda L. Holder, who passed 
4away on October 5, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Pastor Holder served as pastor at Praise Outreach 
6Ministries for 25 years; she was called to be a missionary in 
71982, and she was later commissioned and ordained as an 
8evangelist in 1990; prior to joining Praise Outreach 
9Ministries, she served at the Greater Gillespie Temple Church 
10of God in Christ (COGIC); and
 
11    WHEREAS, Pastor Holder was regarded as a guiding light, a 
12progressive servant leader, a prayer warrior, a confidant, an 
13educator, and a friend to countless members, visitors, and 
14collegiate youth who matriculated from East St. Louis and 
15surrounding states; she was also noted for her devotion to the 
16preservation and teachings of her faith; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Pastor Holder was a pillar of her family, Praise 
18Outreach Ministries, and the community of Carbondale; she will 
19be especially remembered for her humble spirit, her 
20compassionate heart, and her zest for life; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Pastor Holder is survived by her husband, two

1sons, four daughters, her grandchildren, her 
2great-grandchildren, her siblings, and her sisters in faith; 
3therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL 
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
6Pastor Brenda L. Holder and extend our sincere condolences to 
7her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it 
8further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
10presented to the family of Pastor Holder as an expression of 
11our deepest sympathy.
