| 1 | SENATE RESOLUTION | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
| 3 | to learn of the death of Robert G. "Bob" Cordts of Pekin, who | ||||||
| 4 | passed away on August 16, 2024; and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Bob Cordts was born to Glenn F. and Blanche | ||||||
| 6 | (Knollhoff) Cordts in Pekin on November 7, 1939; he graduated | ||||||
| 7 | from Pekin Community High School in 1957; he served in the U.S. | ||||||
| 8 | Air National Guard; he married Carolyn Beasley at Trinity | ||||||
| 9 | Lutheran Church in Pekin on August 19, 1961; and | ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Bob Cordts worked for Central Heating and Cooling | ||||||
| 11 | in Peoria from 1959 to 1975; he, along with his wife, started | ||||||
| 12 | Cordts Heating and Air Conditioning in 1975, working as an | ||||||
| 13 | owner and operator until his retirement in 2004; he was a | ||||||
| 14 | graduate of the Sheet Metal Apprentice Program and a member of | ||||||
| 15 | Sheet Metal Workers Local #1; and | ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Bob Cordts was a member and served as a trustee at | ||||||
| 17 | Trinity Lutheran Church in Pekin; he was a founding member of | ||||||
| 18 | the Pekin Stars, a former member of the Tazewell Hockey | ||||||
| 19 | Association, a member of the Trinity Lutheran Dart Ball Team, | ||||||
| 20 | and a member of Ducks Unlimited; he coached youth and high | ||||||
| 21 | school hockey and Little League baseball; and | ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, Bob Cordts enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a | ||||||
| 2 | master at fixing things, building, and woodworking, making | ||||||
| 3 | treasured gifts for his grandchildren as they married; he | ||||||
| 4 | loved watching his children and his grandchildren play various | ||||||
| 5 | sports; and | ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Bob Cordts will be greatly missed by all who knew | ||||||
| 7 | and loved him; and | ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Bob Cordts was preceded in death by his parents | ||||||
| 9 | and his sister, Joyce Hahn; and | ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Bob Cordts is survived by his wife of 63 years, | ||||||
| 11 | Carolyn; his sons, Bryan (Shelly) Cordts, Bradley (Kim) | ||||||
| 12 | Cordts, and Brandon (Dawn) Cordts; eight grandchildren; eight | ||||||
| 13 | great-grandchildren with one more on the way; his brother, | ||||||
| 14 | Kenley Cordts; and his sister-in-law, Jeanine Beasley Meyers; | ||||||
| 15 | therefore, be it | ||||||
| 16 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | ||||||
| 17 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 18 | Robert G. "Bob" Cordts and extend our sincere condolences to | ||||||
| 19 | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
| 20 | further | ||||||
| 21 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
