| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of John L. Gulley of Edington, who passed |
| 4 | | away on August 16, 2024; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, John Gulley, the son of Oren and Ruth (Piper) |
| 6 | | Gulley, was born in Vincennes, Indiana on July 26, 1945; he |
| 7 | | served as a medic in the U.S. Army in Vietnam; he graduated |
| 8 | | from Southern Illinois University; and |
| 9 | | WHEREAS, John Gulley first worked as an undercover |
| 10 | | narcotics agent in Chicago with the Illinois Bureau of |
| 11 | | Investigations; he later joined the Division of Criminal |
| 12 | | Investigations of the Illinois State Police, retiring as a |
| 13 | | captain; he also taught law enforcement classes part-time at |
| 14 | | Black Hawk College; and |
| 15 | | WHEREAS, John Gulley was a member of Andalusia Community |
| 16 | | Baptist Church; and |
| 17 | | WHEREAS, John Gulley enjoyed researching history, watching |
| 18 | | old Western movies, listening to music, and attending his |
| 19 | | children's and grandchildren's ball games; and |
| 20 | | WHEREAS, John Gulley's greatest joy came from spending |
