SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened 
3to learn of the death of Allen K. "Deacon" Jones of 
4Marshalltown, Iowa, who passed away on August 7, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Deacon Jones, the son of William and Marie 
6(Snodgrass) Jones, was born in Moline on April 21, 1945; he 
7graduated from Moline High School; he served in the U.S. Army 
8with the 196th Light Infantry Brigade in Vietnam; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Deacon Jones worked for Farmall, and he retired 
10from Navistar in Indianapolis, Indiana; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Deacon Jones enjoyed dirt track racing and 
12watching NASCAR; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Deacon Jones will be remembered for his unique 
14sense of humor and his love of playing pranks on friends and 
15family; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Deacon Jones was preceded in death by his father; 
17his mother and stepfather, Marie and Julius Jarama; and his 
18sisters, Patricia "Pat" (Michael) Nichols and Colette (Clement 
19"Junior") Gosa; and

1    WHEREAS, Deacon Jones is survived by his special friend of 
240 years, Lisa Reschke; two nieces; two nephews; and many 
3great-nieces, great-nephews, and other family members; 
4therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL 
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
7Allen K. "Deacon" Jones and extend our sincere condolences to 
8his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it 
9further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
11presented to the family of Deacon Jones as an expression of our 
12deepest sympathy.
