SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Karly Michelle Wetherell of Stewardson, who passed away on July 10, 2024; and

WHEREAS, Karly Wetherell was born in Effingham to Luke Joshua and Lauren Michelle (Wildman) Wetherell on July 28, 2010; she attended Stewardson-Strasburg High School, where she was on the honor roll and a member of the student council; she was also a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Strasburg and the Strasburg Tailtwisters 4-H Club; and

WHEREAS, Karly Wetherell enjoyed doing her hair, shopping with the girls, joking with her brothers, playing sports, especially volleyball with her club, Rapid Fire, and above all spending time with her friends and family; she was fun loving, smart, witty, and always the life of the party; she was her mom's best friend and her dad's best girl; she never met a stranger and could talk for hours; and

WHEREAS, Karly Wetherell was known for her smile, her laugh, her long thick hair that got frizzy when she would sweat, her sportsmanship, her enthusiastic cheering at games, and the brightness she brought to all those around her; her kind heart and easy-going nature made her a friend to so many; her dream was to play volleyball at the University of Texas; and

WHEREAS, Karly Wetherell was preceded in death by her grandpa, Mark Wildman; her uncle, Micah Wetherell; her great-grandpa, Freeman Wildman; her great-grandma, Marilyn Foelsing; her great-grandparents, Bud and Vi Wetherell; her great-aunt, Tara Reed; and her great-uncles, Duane Wetherell, Charlie Decker, and Larry Jacobs; and

WHEREAS, Karly Wetherell is survived by her parents; her brothers, Tyler, Dylan, and Wyatt Wetherell; her grandparents, Jeanne Wildman, and Don and Tammy Wetherell; her great-grandparents, Delbert Foelsing, Lucille Wildman, and Larry and Karen Reed; her aunts and uncles, Nicole and Richard Clapp, Alecia and Colton Booher, Shalyn and Jacob Tabbert, and Philip and Katherine Wetherell; and her cousins, Maverick, Rhen, Riggs, and Hayes Clapp, Weston, Lennon, and Liam Booher, Blakely and Beau Tabbert, and Bentley, Mason, Harper, and Jensen Wetherell; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Karly Michelle Wetherell and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Karly Wetherell as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
