| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Marjorie Nath "Marjie" Ettlinger of |
| 4 | | Highland Park, who passed away on February 22, 2024; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Marjie Ettlinger taught English as a Second |
| 6 | | Language (ESL) at Indian Trail Elementary School and Elm Place |
| 7 | | Middle School in Highland Park; and |
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Marjie Ettlinger volunteered for the League of |
| 9 | | Women Voters for over 50 years; after she retired, she |
| 10 | | volunteered as an ESL teacher for adults; and |
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Marjie Ettlinger enjoyed the outdoors, devoting |
| 12 | | her time to supporting environmental causes; she was a |
| 13 | | lifelong student of the Spanish language; she also appreciated |
| 14 | | and supported the arts, particularly classical music, theater, |
| 15 | | and literature; and |
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Marjie Ettlinger will be remembered for her |
| 17 | | legacy of resilience, activism, and love; and |
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Marjie Ettlinger was preceded in death by her |
| 19 | | husband of 74 years, Richard; and |
