SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened 
3to learn of the death of Donald L. Barnett of Canton, who 
4passed away on February 11, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Donald Barnett was born to Charles and Nellie 
6(Werry) Barnett in Canton on September 7, 1937; he served as an 
7air policeman in the U.S. Air Force, and he was stationed at 
8the McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita, Kansas; he married 
9Frances Swise in Phoenix, Arizona on April 4, 1962; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Donald Barnett retired from Caterpillar Tractor 
11Co. after 30 years of service; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Donald Barnett was skilled in constructing 
13miniature model houses and buildings of places of interest; he 
14enjoyed telling stories and jokes to his friends and family; 
15and
 
16    WHEREAS, Donald Barnett was preceded in death by his wife; 
17his parents; his children, Donnie Barnett and Linda Barnett; 
18and his grandchild, Elizabeth; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Donald Barnett is survived by his daughter, Dawn 
20(Joe "Mike") Putman, and his grandson, Matthew Putman;

1therefore, be it
 
2    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL 
3ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
4Donald L. Barnett and extend our sincere condolences to his 
5family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it 
6further
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
8presented to the family of Donald Barnett as an expression of 
9our deepest sympathy.
