| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Marion Thompson of Aledo, who passed |
| 4 | | away on October 4, 2023; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Marion Thompson was born to Allan and Opal |
| 6 | | (Walton) Thompson in Mt. Vernon, Iowa on October 23, 1936; |
| 7 | | after high school, he joined the U.S. Navy; and |
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Marion Thompson served the local community as an |
| 9 | | auxiliary policeman for many years; he also worked as a |
| 10 | | precision tool grinder for JI Case for 33 years; and |
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Marion Thompson served as a scout leader and a |
| 12 | | rock hunter with the Edwards River Rock Club; and |
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Marion Thompson enjoyed restoring tractors and |
| 14 | | lawn mowers, sandblasting, and gun collecting; and |
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Marion Thompson was preceded in death by his |
| 16 | | parents and his brother, Theodore Thompson; and |
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Marion Thompson is survived by his wife, Kathryn |
| 18 | | Thompson; his children, Karen (Robert) Albert, Patricia |
| 19 | | Thompson, and Joshua Thompson; his grandchildren, Rob, |
