| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to recognize Command Sergeant Major Dena |
| 4 | | D. Ballowe for her military service; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, CSM Ballowe was selected as the Senior Enlisted |
| 6 | | Leader for the Illinois National Guard on July 1, 2019; she |
| 7 | | advises the Adjutant General on the training, management, and |
| 8 | | well-being of the Illinois National Guard's 13,000 Soldiers |
| 9 | | and Airmen; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, CSM Ballowe enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1991 as a |
| 11 | | Material Control and Accounting Specialist; she attended basic |
| 12 | | training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina and advanced |
| 13 | | individual training at Fort Lee, Virginia; she was deployed to |
| 14 | | Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2007 and to |
| 15 | | Kuwait in 2014 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, CSM Ballowe has held multiple leadership |
| 17 | | positions throughout her career; she was selected to be the |
| 18 | | Command Sergeant Major for the 232nd Combat Service Support |
| 19 | | Battalion in 2016; most recently, she was selected as the |
| 20 | | Command Sergeant Major for the 6th Battalion, 54th Security |
| 21 | | Forces Assistance Brigade (SFAB) at the Rock Island Arsenal; |
| 22 | | and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, CSM Ballowe's awards and decorations include the |
| 2 | | Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army |
| 3 | | Commendation Medal (3 Oak Leaf Clusters), the Army Achievement |
| 4 | | Medal (2 Oak Leaf Clusters), the Army Good Conduct Medal,the |
| 5 | | Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal (1 Silver Oak Leaf |
| 6 | | Cluster), the National Defense Service Medal (1 Service Star), |
| 7 | | the Humanitarian Service Medal (1 Service Star), the Global |
| 8 | | War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal |
| 9 | | (M Device and Numeral 2), the Meritorious Unit Citation Medal |
| 10 | | 2nd, the NCO Professional Development Ribbon (Numeral 4), the |
| 11 | | Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon (Numeral 4), |
| 12 | | the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Army Reserve Component Overseas |
| 13 | | Training Ribbon (Numeral 5), the Drivers/Mechanic Badge, and |
| 14 | | numerous awards and decorations from the Illinois National |
| 15 | | Guard; and

| 16 | | WHEREAS, CSM Ballowe's professional education includes an |
| 17 | | associate's degree of science in real estate management from |
| 18 | | the American Military University in Charles Town, West |
| 19 | | Virginia; she graduated from multiple military courses, |
| 20 | | including the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy, the |
| 21 | | Advanced Noncommissioned Officer Course, the Basic |
| 22 | | Noncommissioned Officer Course, and the Primary Leadership |
| 23 | | Development Course; therefore, be it

| 1 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
| 2 | | HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 3 | | we wish to recognize Command Sergeant Major Dena D. Ballowe |
| 4 | | for her service, and we wish her the best in all her future |
| 5 | | endeavors; and be it further
